Meet Our New Director Of Hitting

Lead Hitting Instructor: Johnny Washington has most recently been the head Hitting Coach for the Los Angeles Angels and serves as the Director of Hitting at Batting Lanes 210 during the Major League off-season. A former minor league player, Johnny has spent over 15 years helping players at all levels of baseball improve their swing and mindset at the plate. Coach Washington started his coaching career with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, where he worked in the Dodgers’ farm system between 2009 and 2015. After the Dodgers, he spent the 2016 season in the San Diego Padres minor league system as a Hitting Coach; in 2017 he was promoted to the Major Leagues, becoming the Padres 1st Base Coach, after which he was promoted to Assistant Hitting Coach and then Head Hitting Coach. After leaving the Padres in 2020, he coached in South Korea for a year, then returned to the Major Leagues in 2022 as the Assistant Hitting Coach for the Chicago Cubs. After two seasons with the Cubs, he was hired by the Los Angeles Angels to serve as the team’s Hitting Coach for the 2024 season, where he has served for two seasons.


Assistant Coaches:


Jory Goldstrom is one of the owners of Batting Lanes 210. He has worked in baseball in San Antonio for the past 5 years as an instructor, coach, and facility owner.


Jory played two seasons at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. The team won the conference title his freshman year, competed in the Junior College World Series, and finished third in the nation that season. His sophomore season he was selected as an All-Conference player as an infielder. He finished his playing career at New Mexico State University which is a NCAA Division I school. He started two years at second base while playing at NMSU. He played his entire junior season at second base without committing an error. In his second career start at NMSU he had 4 hits against Texas Tech with the last one being a walk off to win the game in the bottom of the 9th. Jory graduated in 2014 and has spent most the last 11 years coaching at the youth and high school level.


Mike Gulker: played three years of NCAA Division 1 baseball at Yale University, where he batted cleanup and played third base for the Bulldogs. At Yale, Mike earned First Team All-Ivy honors and was an Ivy League Player of the Week recipient, batting .386 in his top collegiate season. Mike prepped at Sycamore High School in Cincinnati where he was an Ohio All State selection, among various other accolades.
